Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Assistant Psychologist post to work within the Emotional Health and Wellbeing Service (EHWS), Fenland Mental Health Support Team (MHST) within Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust.
The Assistant Psychologist role does not require professional registration, (just an undergraduate psychology degree).
The EHWS support children and young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties, within the 'Getting Advice' and 'Getting Help' quadrants of the Thrive Framework, working closely with schools and colleges.
This post will be based within the The New Horsefair Clinic in Wisbech, but the service covers the Fenland area in Cambridgeshire.

Main duties of the job
To work closely with the Psychologists and other clinicians within the service, in order to support the emotional health and wellbeing of children and young people across Fenland.
The post holder will support with audits, research, data analysis and evaluations. Furthermore, they will lead on small projects to support service development.
The post holder will also work clinically with children and young people and their families, as well as school staff.
The post holder will gain experience in delivering cognitive behaviour therapy informed guided self help, as well as other group based interventions.
Please note, the post holder must be able to travel long distances across the 2 counties, often at short notice.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Under supervision, to plan, organise and teach on a variety topics across the service.2. To conduct audits.3. To monitor and evaluate the work of the service, including clinical interventions.4. To offer brief interventions for children and young people and their parents and carers under the supervision of a Psychologist.5. To work independently according to a plan agreed with a Psychologist and within the overall framework of the teams policies and procedures. 6. To gain knowledge of local services in order to support signposting and system navigation.7. To gain experience of psychological assessments, applying psychological tests, self-report measures, and rating scales with children, young people, family members and others involved in the service users care.8. To assess and manage risk within an appropriate psychological framework.9. To plan and prioritise workload, exercising autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment and treatment of patients.

Communicate skilfully, tactfully and sensitively highly complex and highly sensitive information with the service, education staff, children, young people and their families and other professionals.2. Contributing to reports received by senior management and commissioners, as well as communicating their findings in meetings and presentations.

Research & Development Activity
1. To assist in clinically related administration, conduct audits, collection of statistics, and development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.2. To undertake searches of evidence-based literature and research to assist Psychologists in evidence based practice in individual work and work with other team members.
Clinical and Practice Governance
1. Observe and maintain strict confidentiality with regards to any patient/family/staff/records and information in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act.2. Any data that is taken/shared as part of a phone call or transported, faxed, or transferred electronically must be undertaken with regard to the Trust Information Governance and Information Security policies. 3. The post holder must adhere to the Trust risk assessment and risk management processes.4. The post holder must adhere to infection control policies and procedures.5. Undertake mandatory training and any other training relevant to the role as required by Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust.6. The post holder must participate in clinical and safeguarding audits as required.7. Participate in Clinical & Safeguarding supervision on a regular basis.8.
