Job summary

Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust provides Integrated Contraception & Sexual Health (iCaSH) across Bedford, Cambridgeshire, Milton Keynes, Norfolk, Peterborough and Suffolk.

The service delivers care specifically to meet the needs of its diverse population. The Norfolk service is community based with three main clinics in Norwich, Great Yarmouth and Kings Lynn, providing contraception, sexual health and HIV care and treatment.

The successful candidate will join a team of friendly, highly skilled and experienced medical, nursing and allied health professionals, supported by clinic assistants and administrative staff, all delivering a high standard of care to patients at our Norwich Clinic. You will also work alongside the teams in King's Lynn and Great Yarmouth, you must be prepared to travel.

Working Pattern: Monday to Saturday, including evening until 19:30

**Salary will be subject to the 2024/25 Afc increases once an implementation date is agreed**

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurse or Midwife with a strong team-working ethic to join our team as a Contraception Clinical Nurse Specialist. Applicants will need to demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience of Contraception services and method provision. Competency in LARC procedures (particularly Implant fitting and removal) would be advantageous, but is not essential. If you do not hold LARC fitting competencies, a willingness to undertake training will be required.

You will need to be enthusiastic and passionate about patient centred care, an excellent team player but also be able to work independently when needed. You will also need to be able to work with a diverse range of clients in an innovative sexual health setting.

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • NMC Registered Nurse or NMC Registered midwife
  • Nationally recognised qualification in Contraception and or Sexual Health (i.e DFSRH/ BASHH STIF Core and Plus) or willingness to complete.

Desirable

  • Independent Non-medical Prescribing Qualification.
  • Teaching qualification (ENB 998 or C&G 730) or mentorship - must be willing to work towards

Experience

Essential

  • Recent experience of working in sexual health (Contraception, GUM or equivalent)
  • Proven recent experience of working with young people.
  • Able to demonstrate competency in supply of treatments by Patient Group Directions (PGDs)

Desirable

  • Knowledge of relevant national and local polices, strategies and guidance.
  • Cervical Cytology Sample Taker
  • Accredited qualification and ability to perform LARC procedures or willingness to undertake if required.

Skills

Essential

  • Competent to work to a range of contraception treatments and/or undertake asymptomatic screening for STIs or sexual health advising.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently and flexibly.
  • Excellent standards of written and verbal communication skills enabling issues to be discussed simply with a wide range of people.

Desirable

  • Competent to undertake symptomatic screening for STIs.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, whilst able to balance priorities to meet deadlines and team objectives.
  • Ability to fit and remove Implants
