Job summary

To work as an Advanced Practice Physiotherapist to assess, investigate and manage complex patients referred to the interface service.

To treat and manage patients with highly complex presentations

To work with the Clinical Lead to develop the service in line with national/local criteria and initiatives to meet the needs of the local population.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical

Provide highly specialist assessment, diagnosis, screening and management of clients with highly complex musculoskeletal conditions

To provide clinical expertise to contribute to the multi-professional screening/triage of choose and book referrals to ascertain the appropriate referral pathway for individual patients.

Initiate a highly specialist package of care including early signposting to relevant services, evaluation of clinical outcomes to treatment. This client group regularly requires imparting of unwelcome news regarding diagnosis and prognosis.

Request appropriate diagnostic investigations and tests (within agreed protocols where applicable). Analyse and interpret the results to inform clinical treatment plan.

To refer to other specialities when required.

To attend appropriate clinics and case conferences

To maintain professional knowledge by keeping up-to-date with developments in line with clinical governance requirements especially in the field of musculoskeletal conditions.

To provide expert advice to colleagues within physiotherapy and the musculoskeletal field and other professionals as required.

To maintain close links with appropriate secondary care consultants, the multidisciplinary team and other health care professionals.

To contribute to the development and implementation of uni-professional and multi-professional guidelines within the area of speciality.
