Are you looking for a supportive environment to return to the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing part of the NMC register and back into your health visiting or school nursing career?

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Cambridgeshire Community Services for previously registered Health Visitors and School Nurses wishing to return to delivering compassionate and caring practice.

We are currently recruiting to positions in our Healthy Child Programme 0-19 services across the Trust where you will be supported to complete a Return to SCPHN Practice Programme.

Main duties of the job

The practice placement requirement of your Return to Practice will be based in a 0-19 team Healthy Child programme team. Any additional placement experience required for you to complete the Return to Practice programme will be supported by other clinical areas within the Trust or with external partners.

You will be enrolled with the University of Plymouth and will be released to attend all required teaching elements (online access) and our experienced Practice Supervisors and Assessors will support you in practice to achieve your learning outcomes within the course.

Throughout your Return to SCPHN Practice you will be employed in a Band 5 post which will progress to a Band 6 position on successful completion of the Return to Practice programme and successful re-registration on the appropriate parts of the NMC register.

Full time and part time posts are available (the minimum hours recommended for part time are 22.5 hours per week to enable university attendance and effective practice experience).

Clinical

To attend all educational sessions as directed by the University, submitting assignments/assessments and reports promptly as requested.

To maintain a close liaison with the Practice Assessor and Supervisor throughout the module and to agree a clinical learning programme which will facilitate and support theoretical learning and reflect the value of practice centred education.

To demonstrate the ability to transfer previous professional knowledge and skills in the development of Specialist Community Public Health Nursing.

Work with the agreed programme to achieve all objectives to the standard required to regain NMC SCPHN registration.

To have the capacity to develop new skills showing integration of previous theoretical knowledge with knowledge and experience derived from practice.

To develop an awareness and involvement in the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme with support and guidance from the Practice Assessor and Practice Supervisor.

Personal responsibility to identify and highlight any areas of concerns regarding progress and development both clinical and theoretical before these become problematic.

To be able to identify own areas of professional and personal development.

Clinical and Practice Governance

It is a condition of your employment that you are undertaking a Return to Practice module at a recognised Higher Education Institute to regain your SCPHN registration with the NMC. It is your responsibility to renew and maintain your professional registrations once your registration is activated on the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing part of the NMC register.

Observe and maintain strict confidentiality with regards to any patient/family/staff/ records and information in line with the requirements of data protection law.

Any data that is taken/shared as part of a phone call or transported, or transferred electronically must be undertaken with regard to the Trust Information Governance and Information Security policies.

The post holder must adhere to the Trust risk assessment and risk management processes.

The post holder must adhere to infection control policies and procedures.

Undertake mandatory training and any other training relevant to the role as required by Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust/Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Foundation Trust

The post holder must participate in clinical and other audits as required.

Participate in clinical and management supervision on a regular basis.

The post holder is required to participate in relevant emergency preparedness process.
