Job summary

We are hiring a physiotherapist , either working as a First contact Practitioner, or ready to take that next step towards advanced practice.

You'll be based at Rainbow Surgery and George Clare Surgery for South Fenlands Primary Care Network (PCN) and you will be supported by an experienced Advanced Practice Physiotherapist.

  • We are the largest providers of FCP services in the region and are experienced in setting up and supporting FCP roles.
  • Regular clinical supervision, mentoring, and professional development will be provided to ensure the post holder maximises their potential.
  • You will have a nominated FCP accredited supervisor who will support you through your development towards the Health Education England requirements for the FCP MSK RoadMap.
  • We have a well-established Musculoskeletal Interface service enabling the FCP service to be fully integrated within the MSK system.
  • FCPs are included in the regular Advanced Practice Physiotherapist training sessions.

A similar role but fixed-term contract is available for 2 or 4 days of FCP work in Huntingdon PCN based at Romangate surgery (Godmanchester) and Charles Hicks practice (Huntingdon), under job reference; "448-MC-AMB-5253982-A". Main duties of the job

The FCP will work at GP practices managing patients, without prior contact with their GP, to provide evidence-based diagnosis and management plan informed by expert clinical reasoning. The assessment could include referring for diagnostics such as blood tests, X-rays, and ultrasound scans.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Completion of an BSc degree in Physiotherapy or Osteopathy degree
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council or General Osteopathic Council
  • Evidence of continuing professional development in relevant MSK clinical and management areas
  • Evidence working towards or completed stage 1 of HEE MSK roadmap or can demonstrate the right competency and values for the role.
  • Evidence of awareness of stage 2 of HEE MSK RoadMap which can be completed during FCP employment.

Desirable

  • May hold or be working towards a prescribing qualification
  • May hold or be working towards an injection qualification
  • May hold or be working towards a relevant clinical MSc physiotherapy qualification
  • Completed stage 1 / & 2 of roadmap
  • Accredited post registration training in relevant MSK areas

Experience

Essential

  • At least 5 years of MSK postgraduate UK NHS experience. if no UK NHS experience, need to demonstrate equivalent experience, including assessing complex undifferentiated conditions in a MSK clinic.
  • Experience of escalating patients with conditions requiring specialist or medical input
  • Experience in delivering training / teaching programmes of MSK learning in line with evidence-based practice to peers and junior staff
  • Demonstrate evidence-based approach to practice
  • Demonstrates Audit/ service evaluation experience

Desirable

  • Primary care experience - working alongside GPs in the UK to manage and co-ordinate the care that individual patients receive, including through liaising with other members of the MDT and with patients' carers
  • Experience in requesting and interpreting investigations
  • Experience in delivery of formal training programmes to GP practices

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Advanced knowledge of the management for diverse musculoskeletal conditions and knowledge of specialist services in the primary and secondary care for musculoskeletal conditions e.g. Pain services, Rheumatology etc.
  • Demonstrates ability through shared decision making to make decisions about the best pathway of care, and the most appropriate deployment of resources
  • Understanding of a broad range of interventions for managing musculoskeletal conditions including injection therapy, prescribing, social prescribing and promoting nonpharmacological solutions to patient care
