Job summary
The Head of Safeguarding will provide operational leadership for safeguarding adults and children activity within CCS NHS Trust Services and support the development of a think whole family approach to all safeguarding work.
They will represent the Trust and proactively participate in relevant internal and external meeting and forums. This will be undertaken in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Safeguarding to lead and manage safeguarding practice and governance across the service portfolio for CCS Trust.
The Head of Safeguarding will take lead responsibility for the successful delivery of the Trust's adult and children safeguarding strategy and Assurance Programme against all internal and external governance regulatory requirements and key performance indicators for all services.
They will ensure that staff are supported to safeguard children and adults effectively by developing and monitoring clinical outcomes for safeguarding children and adults to support the Assistant Director of Safeguarding with maintenance of safe clinical practice.

Main duties of the job
To support the line management of all Named Professionals across the Trust including 1:1 management, case specific supervision and appraisals.
To be accountable for the development and delivery of the Trust's safeguarding governance arrangements to meet internal, external and regulatory requirements and ensure they are embedded in practice.
To assist the Chief Nurse to develop and implement a trust wide safeguarding strategy to inform and improve practice.
To develop and monitor safeguarding outcomes for adults and children through audit, surveys and supervision.
To be accountable for developing and maintaining strong relationships and partnerships within the Trust and with relevant councils, commissioners, safeguarding boards and other bodies and agencies involved in safeguarding.
Support organisational developments in line with different commissioner expectations and in line with the National NHS 10 Year Plan.
Work collaboratively with the Assistant Director of Safeguarding to ensure application of safeguarding standards and best practice is consistent across Trust services.
