This is a new role in a developing service, we are looking for a Safeguarding Lead 0-25 for our Single Point of Access "Just One Number" serving children, young people, and families of Norfolk and Waveney. Just One Number supports the integrated front door for Norfolk 0-19 Healthy Child Programme, Norfolk and Waveney Speech and Language Therapy and with a plan for mental health referrals across Norfolk, this role will span across all 3 services.

The integrated front door ensures children and young people (CYP) have one place they can contact to ensure their mental health needs are met. The IFD will go hand in hand with the existing Just One Number service to create a system wide approach that will see children and young people's health services under one roof.

Main duties of the job

The Just One Number service supports the integrated front door for Norfolk 0-19 Healthy Child Programme, Norfolk & Waveney Speech & Language Therapy and Mental Health services across Norfolk. The role will facilitate the development of a safe and effective first line approach to the safeguarding of 0-25 year olds who are seeking access to services and need immediate advice and guidance relating to health concerns.

Main Duties

To be an integral part of the Just One Number leadership team and integral part of the safeguarding team, working alongside other leadership colleagues to promote a high quality, efficient and effective service which is grounded in safety and risk management.

To link with the wider system safeguarding partners to develop and support effective safeguarding practices and processes within Just One Number.

To offer leadership for future innovation and growth of Just One Number in conjunction with the digital service offer, healthy child programme, speech and language therapy service and children and adult mental health service as part of the integrated front door.

To ensure that there are robust and effective clinical governance of safeguarding children and adults at risk processes in place and maintaining positive working relationships.

To provide safeguarding advice, support and safeguarding supervision to staff working with children, young people their families and adults at risk in Just One Number and to support the Just One Number Digital Platform.

Develop and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders and partners both internally and externally.

Duties and Responsibilities

To work with Trust staff and wider system partners to promote best practice, identify risk factors and initiate or escalate appropriate action in order to safeguard children and young people and adults at risk of or suffering from physical, sexual, emotional abuse or neglect and emerging mental health difficulties.

To contribute to the design and implementation of the safeguarding strategy in conjunction with the wider safeguarding team promoting evidence-based practice in safeguarding within Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust (CCS) and wider system.

To contribute to collaborative interagency working and quality assurance frameworks and shared processes and policies for safeguarding children and adults at risk.

To ensure appropriate action is taken when clinical risks are identified by self, or a team member and that the escalation process is followed appropriately.

To participate in the design, implementation and delivery of the Trusts safeguarding training strategy and the safeguarding audit programme and to support others to complete this.

To have knowledge and understanding of the safeguarding teams role in the Norfolk MultiAgency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) ensuring effective timely communication and information sharing both internally and externally which supports multidisciplinary/interagency working.

To participate and represent the safeguarding team on identified multi-agency sub-groups and meetings and work with partner agencies to facilitate the learning from multi-agency reviews.

To maintain records and support staff to maintain records as per the NMC and Trust requirements.

To assist the Named Professional, Deputy Named Professional and Safeguarding Team in the production of the Safeguarding Annual Report, provide data in relation to Quality Key Performance Indicators, Section 11 Self assessments and other information as requested by the wider Trust or partner agencies.

To contribute, with support from the Named Professional to Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews, Safeguarding Adult Reviews and Domestic Homicide Reviews and ensure any learning from these is incorporated into training and disseminated across the system.

To provide clinical leadership and professional support to staff and team members; this includes active participation in team meetings and deputising for the Named Professional/Deputy Named Professional where appropriate.

To assist with development of relevant policy documents that guide practice.

To undertake clinical practice duties as determined by Named Professional.

To support staff dealing with the emotional trauma of a sudden death, or injury through a serious incident situation and accessing emotional support for self when dealing with safeguarding issues.

Area of expertise

To lead on development of defined areas of safeguarding practice as determined by Named Professional and Head of Safeguarding.

To provide support and leadership within and across Cambridgeshire Community Services on all matters relating to safeguarding children and adults at risk.

  • First level Registered Nurse or Social Worker
