Job summary

An exciting opportunity to work Part Time has arisen for an enthusiastic, committed and experienced Clinic Assistant to provide high quality services to the community who use the Integrated Contraception and Sexual Health (iCaSH) services across Cambridgeshire. The post will be based at our site in Huntingdon.

Main duties of the job

You will have 'front of house' experience with a demonstrable ability to develop a warm and welcoming rapport booking appointments over the phone and in person for the people who use our services.

You will need an understanding of confidentiality and the sensitivity involved in the delivery of a contraception and sexual health service with a keen eye for detail.

You will be part of a dynamic, supportive and friendly team who ensure the efficient and effective use of available resources, in meeting the contraception and sexual health treatment needs of people in Cambridgeshire.

The role will be based at any of our Huntingdon site.

Services across Cambridgeshire are open Monday to Friday, including some evening cover and Saturday cover on a rotational basis.

You will preferably have experience of using the Lilie electronic patient record system, although training will be provided as appropriate.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Act as the first point of contact to patients and visitors, ensuring all enquires and contact with iCaSH are dealt with in a welcoming, friendly, efficient, courteous and professional manner, promptly and prioritising as required dependant on urgency of enquiry.

Update and process patient demographics on the clinical system and associated booking/check in/waiting list processes.

Maintain accurate patient records both manual and electronic in accordance with the organisations Record Keeping Policy.

When required; receive, sort, distribute and dispatch all mail, ensuring all outgoing mail is appropriately processed and ready for collection at the appropriate time.

When required, take bookings for clinics and meeting rooms using an electronic booking system.

Assist with archiving of clinical notes in line with NHS Trust Retention and Disposal Policy and liaise with offsite storage companies as appropriate. File and archive accurately, using agreed filing system/s, make recommendations for any filing system changes and assist with any such identified changes.

Audio and copy typing for iCaSH clinicians under direction of secretaries/admin lead if required and provide administration support to the iCaSH Service secretaries if required.

Prepare clinical notes and sort pathology reports for clinicians. Open, sort and prioritise clinic mail.

Scanning of relevant client medical records, laboratory reports and other clinic correspondence onto the electronic patient record.

Willingness to undertake and complete chaperone and venepuncture training/competencies, in order to support clinicians where required and act as a chaperone during clinical examinations and carry out venepuncture as appropriate and when required by the clinical and medical teams.
