We are delighted to advertise a permanent, 30 hour band 8B psychology post to join our friendly community paediatrics team in Cambridge.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced clinical psychologist with an interest in neurodevelopment and child mental health.
Our team is made up of community paediatricians and clinical psychologists who work jointly across Cambridgeshire in the assessment and formulation of care. We accept referrals from paediatricians for intervention with children with a range of neurodevelopmental difficulties and physical disability.
This is an exciting time to join and lead a developing team, with great opportunities to be involved in service development, shaping the direction of the service and build leadership competencies. The post holder will lead the overall development of the Clinical Psychology Service and drive forward innovation to better meet the needs of this population.
An important part of the role will be sharing psychological knowledge with families and colleagues through teaching, consultation, supervision and resource development.
This post is a countywide post with a base in either Huntingdon or Cambridge.
Main duties of the job
Our work involves neurodevelopmental and neuropsychological assessments, formulation of complex cases and brief therapeutic interventions with children and families. We work with wider systems to enable them to understand and best support the child in their care. There is the opportunity to build specialist neurodevelopmental assessment skills in ASD and ADHD, alongside understanding of the impact of developmental trauma and parental mental health difficulties on a child's presentation. Our therapeutic work draws on a variety of models including CBT and systemic therapy, and addresses issues around adjustment to diagnosis, attachment, parenting, and family dynamics within the context of long term conditions. We run Tree of Life groups for young people with complex physical disabilities, and would like to expand our offer of groups in the future.
Our team is active in clinical research and there are many opportunities to contribute to and supervise research projects. There will be the opportunity for developing supervision skills, and you would receive regular clinical supervision. In addition, we meet weekly as a psychology team for case discussion, service development and CPD, with opportunity to access specialist supervision groups locally. The successful post holder will be able to forge strong links with psychologists in other children's services within the organisation.

Essential
- Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology, as accredited by the BPS, or a BPS Statement of Equivalence
- Registered HCPC practitioner psychologist
- Qualification in the administration of the ADOS-2 and BOSA
- Undertaken formal training in the supervision of trainee and qualified clinical psychologists
Desirable
