Job summary

Dudley Integrated Health and Care NHS Trust (DIHC) has developed and integrated primary care with community-based services within the Dudley healthcare system since 2020 with its core aim being community where possible and hospital when necessary. Our purpose is to improve the health and wellbeing of our local population in Dudley. We are currently working with organisations within the health care sector in Dudley and the Black Country System to look at the best way to continue to deliver the services to our patients. As such the services within the organisation may transfer to other organisations over the course of the next 12 months.

We have 1 WTE permanent vacancies for up to 37.5 hours per week (part time will be considered) for individuals to come and work with us in our centralised Medicines Optimisation Support Hub working with GP Practices in Dudley. The role will support the Practice Based Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians working within GP Practices. The role is responsible for ensuring that a robust system is followed to support the reduction of medicines wastage, prescribing safety, support cost improvements and minimise environmental impact. Full training will be provided.

Main duties of the job

The duties and responsibilities are intended to be indicative but not exhaustive of the responsibilities of the post holder. As Dudley Integrated Health and Care NHS Trust develops, the requirements of the job may develop and change.

However, to provide an insight into this role, the successful applicant could be expected to be involved the below:

  • Follow MOSH Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and protocols for processing information as appropriate including medicine safety, medicines quality, waste reduction and audits under the supervision of the Pharmaceutical Public Health Team. This will involve collecting clinical data and transcribing into Microsoft word, excel etc.
  • Administrative support targeting population health outcomes e.g., telephone recall for flu uptake and other health campaigns, telephoning patients to support safe prescribing (patient needing blood tests, blood pressure checks etc).
  • To communicate effectively and efficiently via the telephone with a wide range of people in respect of sensitive and confidential information.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Good general level of education to GCSE (A* - C Grade) or equivalent
  • Educated to NVQ Level 3 in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant equivalent previous proven experience.

Desirable

  • Competent to RSA Level 2 in typing / word processing.

Knowledge/Experience

Essential

  • Has experience working within a GP practice environment ideally producing repeat prescriptions.
  • Experience working with GP Clinical Systems e.g. EMIS Web, INPS Vision
  • Knowledge of current NHS policies/processes and structures relating to prescribing and medicines
  • Knowledge of medicines management issues relating to primary care and the care homes sector
  • Knowledge of role of other healthcare professionals
  • Proficient in the use of IT e.g. MS Office Outlook, Excel working with spread sheets and databases.
