Job summary

Dudley Integrated Health and Care NHS Trust (DIHC) is unique. It is the first integrated care provider in the country combining primary care with community physical and mental health services across the borough of Dudley. The Trust is now in a critical stage of its journey working towards the award of the Integrated Care Provider (ICP) contract in April 2022.

Communications and Engagement is an integral part of this journey and we are now looking to expand our team and appoint a Communications and Engagement Specialist

You will also be a key contact with our patients and local communities and work with them in creative and inclusive ways to ensure their voices are heard in our everyday business. This really is a diverse role with lots of opportunity for growth and development in a very supportive environment.

Experience of working in a busy communications/engagement environment is essential for this role and you will need a thorough approach, be highly organised, have excellent writing skills and be personable.

This is a permanent full time position covering 37.5 hours per week. Our future working may be a blend of home and office working whilst also being out and about across our diverse communities.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be able to understand and translate strategic objectives into deliverable communications and engagement plans, evaluating the impact and effectiveness and adapting approaches as necessary.

Proficient in digital and new technologies, they will also have an understanding about Dudleys varied communities, and a creative approach to communicate and engage with seldom heard audiences, ensuring all practices are inclusive.

The post holder will contribute to maintaining and raising the profile of services, initiatives and the work of the Trust with staff, patients, stakeholders, media and the general public. They will do this through internal and external communications and engagement activity and promote the good work of the Trust.

The post holder will develop, implement and evaluate communications and engagement projects and will provide communications and engagement advice to managers and colleagues throughout the Trust and wider, being a lead contact for identified campaigns, work programmes, projects and Primary Care Networks (PCNs).

They will be required to be the communications and engagement lead for both internal and external campaigns that promote the work or key objectives of the Trust, and will be required to evaluate the success of these campaigns to demonstrate the impact, adapting approaches as necessary to achieve objectives.

Dudley Integrated Health and Care NHS Trust is the first Integrated Care Provider in the country. It was launched in April 2020 following a period of development and integrates primary care with community services within our healthcare system. Our aim is Dudley first, community where possible and hospital where necessary and our purpose is to improve the health and wellbeing of our local population in Dudley.
