Clinical Support Assistant

The closing date is 28 April 2026

Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Band 4 Clinical Support Assistant to join the Community Mental Health Team, in North Warwickshire & Rugby, working with a mixture of patients with psychotic and non-psychotic presentations.

We are one team that has two bases, one in Nuneaton, the other in Rugby. All clinical work is carried out in both bases and in patient's own homes and on-line.

We are seeking a candidate that has a good knowledge and experience of working with service users with Mental health difficulties that will include emotion regulation difficulties, depression and anxiety. This knowledge may have been acquired through prior learning or relevant experience.

Main duties of the job

This role is varied and will incorporate the delivery of Mental Health psycho education in a variety of formats both individually, in base or in their own home and sometimes in a group setting. The candidate will have an ability to implement cognitive behavioural approaches and be able to quickly develop competency and confidence to deliver material independently after a relatively short period of intense training.

The post holder will have responsibility for a defined caseload of clients under indirect supervision. They will provide treatment to service users using a range of evidence-based interventions. Other aspects of the role will be assisting service users who ring at times of distress and helping them to use skills to manage their emotional upset. A key aspect of the role will be to be part of the triage function for all routine referrals coming into the Community Mental Health Team in this locality. Working with the team to help manage the waiting lists for a number of interventions within the team will also be part of the job role.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they can work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team but also be able to show that they can work independently. The ability to understand thresholds of competency and when to seek advice and support is vital. Good organisational skills and time management are essential.
