We are looking to recruit a Psychological Therapist, to support our service users, their families/carers and professional teams.

Exciting investment atCoventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust (CWPT)allows us to expand our existingForensic Community Mental Health provision through a number of posts across PACT and the Forensic Community Health Team (FCMHT). This ambitious,2-year projectis backed by significant funding and is focused on transforming mental health services for people who are a risk to others. Mentalization Based Treatment (MBT) is an integral intervention for our service users, and we are excited to pilot the provision in the service.

What We're Working On:

  • Setting up a dedicated clinic spacewithin a local remand prison
  • Improving the transition pathwayfrom secure care to community services
  • Embedding forensic specialistsinto each Community Mental Health Team (CMHT)
  • Providing consultation and formulationsupportto staff and services
  • Creating a co-production forumfor collaborative service development
  • Offering targeted therapeutic interventionsin the community
  • Delivering comprehensive forensic trainingfor all CWPT staff
  • Leading researchon community forensic services to shape future care

Main duties of the job

Who We Are Looking For:

We're seeking a passionate individual who values working with those with complex mental health needs. Whilst forensic experience is desirable, it is not essential. The role involves providing an MBT provision, including both client-facing work and supporting with team processes. Ideally, applicants should have completed MBT Basic Training and have or be working towards accreditation as a practitioner, although training can be provided to otherwise suitable candidates. As a pilot service, the therapist will be responsible for evaluating the efficacy of MBT in a community forensic mental health service, with support from clinical leads.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Psychotherapist (UKCP / BPC / BACP)
  • Core Training (RMN / OT / Social Work / Arts Therapies / Psychology / Medicine) AND demonstrable experience of providing psychologically informed treatments.
  • To have completed AFC MBT accreditation as practitioner or be willing to undertake/achieve accredited status.
  • Evidence of CPD

Knowledge

Essential

  • Good clinical assessment skills of complex clinical presentations requiring sensitivity to unconscious processes.
  • Ability to identify psychodynamic and diagnostic formulations where expert opinions may differ
  • Previous experience of working with people with personality disorder
  • Previous experience of group psychotherapy interventions
  • Evidence of teaching, training and professional and clinical supervision
  • Participation in multidisciplinary team work
  • Expertise in assessing and treating patients with personality disorder
  • Receptivity to understanding of group dynamics and processes
  • Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group
  • Ability to reflect on clinical practice/interventions
  • Recognise relevance and application of evidence-based practice
  • Ability to work effectively with service user representation
