CBT Therapist in Mental Health Support Team- Band 7 RISE / CAMHS

Job summary

We have an exciting, innovative and specialist role within our RISE Early Help Service. The role will be based within our Mental Health in Schools Team offer, which was part of a successful trailblazer program stemming from the green paper in 2017.

We are looking for an experienced CBT therapist with a passion for early intervention and prevention to join our team.

Main duties of the job

To deliver evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy within the North Warwickshire Mental Health in Schools Team.

To provide CBT supervision and support clinicians within your team.

To carry a caseload and co-ordinate care for children, young people and families. Through this, the post holder will assess children referred to the service and plan, implement and evaluate treatment plans.

As a member of the RISE team the post holder will display the ability to liaise internally and externally as appropriate with other professionals, attending and contributing to Multi-Disciplinary meetings, to appropriately support the young person. Whilst also being able to support other professionals through guidance and consultation to ensure the effective provision of the service.

To work within the MHST Leadership team to further develop the service and the professionals within it, for example through offering Continued Professional Development Sessions, supporting the facilitation of group work, and consultations.

The Post holder must also be able to travel independently in a timely manner. (Hold a full UK driving Licence and have access to a car).

Qualifications

Essential

  • A professional registered qualification in a relevant subject (e.g. psychology, social work, counselling, nursing, Psychotherapy) at degree level is desirable, or equivalent qualification and membership of a registered statutory body. AND
  • Postgraduate training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with Full Practitioner Accreditation with the BABCP. This includes candidates who have completed the post graduate training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy on a KSA route.
  • Ability to demonstrate significant clinical experience working as a psychological therapy practitioner and demonstrating the competencies as required, preferably with a children and young person population.
  • To have successfully completed or be willing to complete the PGCert in Evidence Based Supervisory Skills (CBT).

Knowledge and skills

Essential

  • Skilled to provide CBT assessment, formulation and individual/group intervention for children young people and families who have complex mental health problems.
  • Ability to use a variety of psychometric questionnaires and routine outcome measures in clinical meaningful ways to inform practice.
  • Specialist knowledge of the range of young people's mental health problems and mental health services including risk assessment and management.
  • Knowledge of legislative frameworks and recent guideline in child and adolescent mental health service provision.
  • In depth knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, managing a caseload and prioritising on basis of need.
  • Well-developed communication skills.

Desirable

  • Ability to provide CBT supervision to junior practitioners and trainees.
