Deputy Chief Finance Officer

Main duties of the job
Our Deputy Chief Finance Officer (CFO) has a key role to play in supporting the Trust to achieve this ambition.
They will be responsible for leadership and performance management of the Financial Management, Financial Services, Contracting and Procurement functions, thereby providing a comprehensive business partnering function that helps deliver economy, efficiency and effectiveness across all of the Trust's activities.
The Deputy CFO will play an active role in local system forums and the delivery of the collective Coventry & Warwickshire financial sustainability plan.

- CCAB or equivalent Professional Accountancy Qualification
- Continuous Professional Development (CPD) record complying with membership of accounting body
Knowledge
Essential
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to drive and motivate teams of people at all levels of an organization and to manage conflict
- Highly developed communication skills with the ability to communicate complex financial data to non-finance staff, verbally and in writing
- The ability to communicate contentious and sensitive information to an audience that may not be receptive
- Highly developed analytical skills to solve complex financial and non-financial problems
- Able to form judgements and make autonomous decisions guided by trust policies and procedures
- Able to understand and interpret national financial policies and guidance, and advise the trust on their implementation
- Ability to concentrate for prolonged periods and cope effectively with frequent interruptions
- Highly developed financial transformational skills to develop and improve finance management function
- Highly advanced Microsoft skills and understanding of software to enable data manipulation and interpretation

- Detailed knowledge of NHS budgeting and planning process and general NHS finance regime, including Costing
- Experience of developing robust I&E forecasts and delivery of financial balance and financial recovery plans
- Proven track record of financial performance management
- Experience of NHS contracting, having led negotiations.
- Proven knowledge and understanding of the political environment and stakeholder management, experience working with Executive and Non-Executive Directors and Clinical Leads
- Experience and understanding of the financial, regulatory and statutory duties placed upon NHS organisations
