Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry - Whitestone Clinic
Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust
The closing date is 01 May 2025
Job summary
This is a replacement post as full time Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. The post holder will join a multidisciplinary team in providing a comprehensive child and young people's mental health service to North Warwickshire RISE. The post holder will use their skills in leadership and team building in addition to using their clinical expertise to interactively offer consultation and support the wider service and allied service professionals. The post holder will be able to demonstrate their enthusiasm in teaching and training through participation in under and post graduate training.
Main duties of the job
The Post-holder will support the work of the CAMHS and multidisciplinary teams. This will include reviewing patients with the multidisciplinary team, providing advice on complex cases and holding an individual caseload.
There is a single point of entry (Navigation Hub) which screens all new referrals. This will direct whether an appointment is required with the AET (Assessment and Engagement Team). This may direct a referral (within CWPT) to psychiatry. This is managed through the weekly psychiatry referral team meeting.
The post holder will be expected to see a total (CAMHS) of 1-3 new cases every week including emergencies and up to 16 follow up appointments per week (typically 12 to 14). The range of cases include those seen in a Tier 3 clinic but are likely to be at a complex end requiring input from the consultant and other medical staff.
Consultant Psychiatrists provide consultation within the MDT meetings and specific patient consultation through request to the CAMHS Psychiatry Referral Meeting.
When patients are admitted to Tier 4 hospital, Consultant responsibility is held by the Tier 4 inpatient Consultant team. The Post-holder will liaise appropriately with tier 4 colleagues to facilitate the smooth transfer of care in the transitions between urgent and planned care.
The Post-holder will take part in Mental Health Act Assessments and out-of- hours duties and will act as Responsible Clinician.
