Speech and Language Therapist

Due to internal promotion, there is an exciting opportunity to work as part of our Community Learning Disabilities team.

Previous experience in working with Adults with Learning Disabilities is desirable but not essential.

Speech and Language Therapist in Adult Learning Disabilities This job is suitable for someone who is newly qualified, a band 5 looking to get experience in learning disabilities or an established band 6.

Permanent contract.

To participate in the organisation, delivery and development of speech and language therapy interventions in a variety of community settings.

To carry a clinical caseload in communication and depending on experience a caseload in dysphagia.

Previous experience with dysphagia is also desirable but not essential as training will be provided.

To provide and participate in clinical supervision to Speech and Language Therapy Assistants and students.

We have a robust clinical supervision and peer supervision system.

Main duties of the job

This role involves close working with multi-disciplinary colleagues in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Psychology, Psychiatry and Learning Disability Nursing.

This role is community based.

The post holder would be responsible for completing speech and language therapy assessments and planning interventions for adults who have a learning disability and providing advice and training.

The team operates in an inclusive and supportive manner and encourages the development of special interests and self-directed learning.
