Job summary

Band 8a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist - Coventry & Warwickshire Partnership Trust - Early Intervention in Psychosis Services

Senior Clinical Psychologist Band 8a - 1.0 wte in Coventry Early Intervention in Psychosis team

Compassion... Respect.... Excellence... Collaboration... Integrity... do you share our values?

Voices... trauma... visions... stigma... withdrawal... exclusion... depression... substance use - the people we support need psychologists who can help them find a way through these experiences and make a meaningful recovery - are you ready to work alongside them and their families?

Peer workers... multi-disciplinary teams... transformation... new partnerships... organisational change... research - do these excite you?

If the answer to these is 'Yes', we would love to hear from you. We are looking for a clinical psychologist who is passionate about making a difference to the lives of people experiencing psychosis to join our Early Intervention in Psychosis team in Coventry.

Early Intervention in Psychosis is an innovative and evidence-based model. The team works with service-users aged 14 to 65 who are experiencing first episode or early psychosis, and their families for up to 3 years, as well as people presenting with an at-risk mental state. There is a strong commitment to provide an excellent standard of care and to continually improve what we do. The contribution of psychology and provision of psychological interventions is highly valued in our teams.

Main duties of the job

You will have the support and supervision of a Principal Clinical Psychologist and will work alongside assistant psychologists and a CBTp therapist in the team. We are keen to see our psychologists and CBT therapists flourish and develop, and as part of this we are exploring ways of enabling people to develop specialisms that can be utilised across our localities and the wider psychosis services in the Trust. We are also keen to see that all of our psychologists and CBT therapists are trained and supported in delivering trauma-focused therapies. We have recently welcomed a peer worker to the team and a peer carer to the service, and we are looking for more opportunities to work alongside the people we support.

It is preferable that candidates have post qualification experience of working with people with psychosis. Experience in delivering CBT and family interventions with people with first episode psychosis, including those with complex presentations and trauma, is desirable. Experience of using trauma-focused interventions would be an advantage.

You are required to hold a current professional registration with the HCPC, and it would be advantageous to be BABCP accredited or have passed a BABCP accredited CBT training course. A recognised qualification, current training or commitment to undertake training in CBT for psychosis is highly desirable.
