Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Court Practitioner to work within the Criminal Justice Liaison and Diversion service.

We are a referral, assessment and signposting service embedded at the heart of the criminal justice system across Coventry and Warwickshire. We work in Police Custody and Court Services, alongside our key partners such as the Police, Probation Service, Youth Justice and Magistrates.

The successful applicant will be a part of the existing Court area of the service. This post is predominantly based in Coventry Magistrates Court however with a view that there will be an expectation of support for other court areas in the Coventry and Warwickshire footprint in line with service need as this arises.

The successful applicant will be required to support referrals from existing liaison and diversion practitioners in police custody and other court areas as well external referrals from key partners in line with the service model.

The successful applicant will undertake holistic assessments, identifying vulnerabilities and liaising with appropriate stakeholders such as Police and Courts, as well as other services within our Trust, the third sector providing NHS England court reports and beyond to meet unmet needs and reduce the cycle of reoffending.

Main duties of the job

Are you an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse, Learning disability Nurse, Occupational therapist or Social worker with a mental health background?

Are you able to demonstrate a commitment to high quality care and service provision, Have the ability to work flexibly and work as part of a multi-agency team?

Have the ability to assess and formulate risk plans?

Have enhanced communication and inter- personal skills?

And happy to be police vetted?

Qualifications

Essential

  • Current Professional Registration - including Registered Mental Health Nurse, registered Learning disability nurse, registered occupational therapist, Social Worker, or other allied health professional relevant to mental health (degree level).

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in mental health as a qualified professional
  • Proven ability to work with other professional groups within and outside of NHS
  • Experience of working autonomously and making decisions around patient care particularly around risk assessment/management
  • Ability to liaise effectively with statutory and voluntary services

Essential

  • The post holder must be willing to travel, have a valid full driving licence and have access to independent means of transport
  • The post holder must be able to demonstrate flexibility in working hours.
