Job summary
We are seeking an experienced finance professional to join us as Head of Financial Reporting.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Finance Assurance, you will be a key member of the Finance, Contracting and Procurement team.
You will have responsibility for reporting the Trust's financial performance, for monitoring the Trust's income and you'll provide leadership to the central finance team that support our corporate budget holders, including Estates and Facilities. You will also be a key support in producing the Trust's financial plans.
We are looking for someone who is highly motivated and committed to developing our people, our skills and processes to deliver excellent service.
Main duties of the job
This role is responsible for providing an effective and responsive financial management and reporting service.
Responsibilities include:
Production of Trust financial performance information and monitoring Trust income.
Compile Trust annual budgets.
Support production of Trust financial plans.
Lead the central financial management team and finance within the Trust's research function.

- Compile the Trusts annual budget, ensuring that robust systems are in operation to control budget movements
- Production of financial performance reports to deadlines, including analysis of variances and interpretation of trends and identification of risks.
- Make recommendations and negotiate appropriate corrective actions on resource management and control to ensure financial targets are achieved. Support the Deputy CFO in ensuring that the Trusts financial management escalation policy is operating effectively.
- Lead the central management team delivering support to corporate functions (including Estates and IT Collaborative) and have professional responsibility for the finance elements of the role of Research Finance Contracts Manager, hosted by the Trusts Research function.
- Coordinate the production of monthly budget statements for the Trust.
- Provide expert advice on the financial aspects of service delivery plans and rationalisation plans which incorporates development of business cases, benchmarking and formulation of cost improvement programme savings plans.
- Review ongoing costs of services, assist in the identification and monitoring of the delivery of cost improvement programme savings relating to relevant services for current and future years.
- Implement recommendations arising from internal and external audit reviews.
- Provide training and education on financial management, costing, financial control and financial risk matters in order that budget holders may operate as effective managers of financial resources.
- Produce relevant, timely and accurate ad hoc reports as requested by Trust Managers and external stakeholders, as required.
- Pro-active in the identification, development and maintenance of the business information requirements of Trust Executives, Directors, General managers, Service managers and budget managers.
- Ensure that there is a robust process in place to forecast year-end financial performance so that financial plans will be achieved, including identification of risks, availability of reserves and contingency plans.

- Identify opportunities for improvements in systems and processes and support the implementation of changes.
- Support the Deputy CFO in the application for One NHS Finance accreditation.
