Senior Children's Carer - Children's Bladder and Bowel Service

Investment in a Coventry and Warwickshire Children's Bladder and Bowel Service has created new opportunities in the Children's Bladder and Bowel Care Team.

We have two senior carer positions which will be part of a team who are passionate about delivering holistic care within community setting.

Our aim is to maximise independence and quality of life for children or young people with bladder and bowel dysfunction; by working in collaboration with Universal and Specialist Children's Nursing Services, Allied Health Professionals, Education, and Social Care.

The team strive to deliver a quality service using local and national guidelines for continence. As a senior carer within the team, you will have responsibility for the implementation, and evaluation of bladder and bowel care programmes for children and young people within a defined caseload, under the direction of the children's bladder and bowel nurses. This will include the promotion of healthy bladder and bowels, supporting toilet training for children and young people with additional needs and continence reviews for children and young people needing containment products.

We have two posts equal to 1.4 WTE. Flexible working arrangements will be considered.

Main duties of the job

To work independently in a range of settings, including clinics, educational establishments, and the child's home

To provide evidenced based advice, and compassionate support, to the children and young people and their parents or carers.

Recognise issues relating to safeguarding vulnerable children and adults and report any problems or raise concerns to the appropriate registered care professionals.

Assist in the implementation of appropriate actions to meet the specific physical, emotional, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of children, young people, and families.

Demonstrate an ability to care for children and young people with complex needs.

Demonstrate skills in relation to coaching/teaching children and young people, their parents and carers, and staff members.

Demonstrate a good understanding of the principles of consent.

Ensure documentation and records are maintained in accordance with Trust policy.

Communicate with children and young people and their families regarding sensitive situations and conditions, which may include safeguarding aspects.

Signpost children and young people and their families to services which may be of benefit to their wellbeing, promoting community connections and make the best use of local assets.
