Health Care Assistant - Band 3

Amber Unit is a Specialised Assessment and Treatment service which provides assessment and treatment to adults both Males and Females who have a learning disability. The people admitted also present with additional mental health, physical health and / or behavioural needs. These can include Autism, ADHD, Attachment Disorder, Personality Disorder, Psychosis, Diabetes, Epilepsy, Asthma and rare syndromes. Patients admitted have varying degrees of learning disability and varying degrees of need. They are admitted to Amber Unit for a period of assessment and treatment that can not be done in the community setting.

We are looking for confident, outgoing, person centred Health Care Assistants who can support our patients and help enhance the patients experience whilst on Amber Unit.

As a Health care Assistant, You will be required to assist patients with Activities of Daily living, personal care, support leave on site and in the community and to complete observations. You will be required to work closely with the Qualified Nurses and all members of the Multi Disciplinary Team so that assessment and treatment can be completed in a timely manner. You will be assigned as a member of a care team for an allocated individual and will play a very important part in the patient's transition back into the community.

This is achieved over a 24 hour period on a rota system and includes days, nights, weekends, bank holidays (including Christmas and New Year)

About us

Whilst full induction and training will be given due to specialist nature of the service it is crucial that staff have a particular interest in this group. The post holder will be required to provide emergency support to other units in events of temporary staff deficits.
