Job summary

The post is as Specialty Doctor in General Adult Community Psychiatry primarily working in Community mental health team and Early intervention 0.5 and as a Teaching Fellow 0.5.

This post has arisen as a result of partnership working between Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust and Buckingham Medical School to provide Undergraduate Psychiatry training for medical students in Rugby. This has been running successfully since 2018

The Specialty Doctor will assist in providing comprehensive community mental health services in Rugby: to undergraduate education for medical students from Buckingham Medical School. You will require leadership, teaching and team building skills as well as clinical experience.

This post will give an excellent opportunity to develop teaching skills and will be particularly suited to doctors who have a minimum of 3 years' experience in Psychiatry and who are not in a training programme. The post holder will be given the necessary support for career progression and will have the opportunity to participate in regular CPD.

Main duties of the job

We are a forward-thinking Trust providing high quality services and are constantly seeking to develop and improve services through our service development plan. Services are currently being redesigned using a Value based care model developed at Harvard University Business School ensuring there is a clear focus on patient outcomes and services are configured to deliver those outcomes

About us

Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust provides comprehensive Mental Health Services for a population of around 850,000 including around 152000 over 65 population in the Coventry and Warwickshire area. It also provides Learning Disability services for a substantial part of the West Midlands, including tertiary services in forensic and child psychiatry. It further provides Community Health services to Coventry. The Trust was formed in October 2006 as a merger of mental health, learning disability and substance misuse services from Coventry, North Warwickshire, and South Warwickshire PCT's.

The Trust is a teaching Trust and services have been involved in the development of Warwick University Medical School since its inception. The Trust developed new partnership working with Buckingham Medical School in 2018 to provide undergraduate training at the Rugby site. It provides placements for medical students in their community and mental health modules. Professionals working with the Trust contribute to the academic programme and strong links exist with the Academic Department of Psychiatry in Warwick medical school and Buckingham medical school.
