Clinical Psychologist - Band 8 a or Band 7/8a Development Post 0.8 WTE Community Mental Health Forensic Team -
We are keen to recruit a clinical psychologist to Band 8a or 7/8a development posts.
This post will form part of our brand new Forensic Community Mental Health Team covering Coventry and Warwickshire. This is part of our Community Mental Health Transformation bid and is part of unprecedented investment in our services.
You will have the opportunity to be involved in research, working with a multi-agency, multi-disciplinary teams, transformation, forming new partnerships and service models, co-production and co-delivery and training ?
You will hold a caseload of patients, as well as providing Psychology expertise and training to the team and our stakeholders. You will work with other Psychology staff as well as nursing, social work, occupational therapy, psychiatry, support workers, lived experience workers and other agencies as part of an integrated MDT.
Main duties of the job
With the support and supervision of a Consultant Clinical Psychologist you will work with colleagues to deliver NICE recommended and recovery focused interventions in the community and to providing a psychological perspective to the multi-disciplinary team. You will work with people with complex difficulties and their families. You will be expected to promote values that seek to support recovery in this client group and maximise the potential of individuals with the aim of reducing social exclusion, stigma and the potentially disabling effects of mental illness, coupled with a forensic background.
As well as being an integral part of the team, you will work alongside agencies such as secure services, police, probation, crisis and acute services to provide a seamless model of holistic care.

It is essential that candidates have an interest in providing psychological interventions for psychosis and have experience of working with people and their carers in Secondary Care Mental Health, or with people with complex mental health needs in different settings.
Experience of applying cognitive behavioural models to trauma, psychosis and recovery would be advantageous, and interests in ACT, Compassion Focused Therapy and EMDR would be welcome.
You are required to hold a current professional registration with the HCPC as a practitioner psychologist by the time you take up the post. A recognised qualification, current training or commitment to undertake training in CBT for psychosis is highly desirable. The ability to travel during the working day over a large geographical area is essential, as is the ability to work flexibly with the needs of the client group.
Successful candidates would either be appointed to a Band 8a dependent on experience, or a Development Post role at band 7 and provided opportunities and support to progress to the band 8a role upon successful completion of a development programme. It is expected that this process will be achievable within a period of up to two years, although timescales may vary between different staff members in Development Posts. In the event that elements of the expected competencies to progress to 8a are not fully met, the role will remain as a band 7.
