Job summary

Band 7 CBT Therapist or Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to work within the Coventry Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Team.

Hours: 37.5 (1.0 WTE) (flexible part time hours can be considered)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 7 CBT Therapist or Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join our Coventry Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Team. The team works with people with a wide range of complex mental health presentations . Our psychologists and CBT Therapists are embedded within the Community Mental Health Team and we are therefore looking for someone who values and enjoys multi-disciplinary working and has a high level of understanding of the distinct contribution and added value that psychological approaches can make to the team.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a CBT therapist or clinical/counselling psychologist who can provide evidence-based therapies for individuals with complex mental health presentations, which include a history of trauma. Therefore we would welcome applications from those who have skills in using CBT models for various presentations and Trauma-Focused CBT. Skills in working with Compassionate Focused Therapy would also be advantageous.

The post will involve providing assessments and psychological interventions to individuals presenting with a wide range of complex mental health difficulties. There will also be opportunities to offer consultation to the MDT.

The post holder will join a friendly and well-established team of psychologists and CBT therapists based at TileHill Health Centre in Coventry.

About us

It is an exciting time to be joining the team due to new developments that will be taking place within the service as part of the Community Mental Health Transformation Programme. New pathways are being developed based on a trauma-informed care approach . Our current team of Psychological Therapists are dedicated to high quality, evidence-based service provision, including EMDR, Trauma-focused CBT, Compassion Focused Therapy andMindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy.

Staff from the coventry service have close links with other psychological therapists working within the other locality Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Teams. They also have links with other psychological therapists within the Trust through service development meetings, special interest groups, CPD events and our Annual Psychological Services Conference.

  • Undergraduate degree /Relevant Professional Qualification i.e RMN
  • Current registration with Professional Body appropriate to qualifications
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
  • Relevant further training and experience including specialist short courses which are relevant to a secondary care team eg. Complex Trauma, Personality disorders, CFT, ACT, BDD to masters or equivalent level
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and other CPD relevant to the client group.
  • AND Experience working with people with clients with anxiety disorders, depression and personality disorders and demonstrating the competences as required.
  • Accreditation with BABCP or working towards accreditation.
