Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioner Trainee - Adult Community Mental Health

Band 5 ( Band 6 see attached)

We invite applications for an enthusiastic and compassionate new team of mental health and wellbeing practitioners to work within our community mental health teams across Coventry and Warwickshire.

This is an exciting, brand-new role created by Health Education England and NHS England and Improvement to support the transformation of adult community mental health services. Your training will be fully funded by the NHS, and you will be eligible for a full-time qualified position if you pass the course. In return, we ask that you commit to staying with us for at least two years after you qualify. These posts are suitable for graduates (e.g., psychology) and non-graduates, who have the right personal qualities. This role will contribute to ensuring adults with severe mental health problems have greater access to psychologically informed interventions.

Main duties of the job

You will be involved in the development of an exciting new service in primary care working with severe mental health presentations. In addition to your mental health and wellbeing training you will also be trained to facilitate a group emotional regulation intervention.

The role involves seeingadultpatients, in person or via video link, who have been referred by GPs and other local services and providing psychological support for them in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Thiswillincludeproviding the following psychological interventions:

  • behavioural activation and graded exposure using the'GOALS'programme
  • problem-solving
  • improvingsleep
  • recognisingand managing emotions
  • confidencebuilding
  • supportwithmanagingmedicines management
  • Providing care management support, such as connecting service users with other agencies.

You'll work as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team to promote good mental health and recovery from severe mental health problems.
