Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to apply for a Healthcare Assistant post within Lakeview Clinic at the Caludon Centre in Coventry.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an experienced Healthcare Assistant to work within our outpatient service at Lakeview at the Caludon Centre, part-time hours available up to 26.5 hours per week.

The service provides electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) for patients from Coventry and Warwickshire and also clinics that monitor mental health medications such as Clozapine and mood stabilisers.

The clinic's operating hours are Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm and successful candidates would not be expected to work outside of these hours.

We are looking for an individual who is motivated and can work well within a team, has excellent communication skills and clinical skills. This client groups can present with challenging and complex needs, therefore an awareness of processes and legal frameworks such as Mental Health Act, DOLS, mental capacity and safeguarding is desirable. Phlebotomy training is desirable but not essential as full training will be given once in post and having a good knowledge and skills in undertaking and monitoring physical health such as ECG, BP, Temp, Mews score would also be desirable.

Knowledge and training required for the post will be given and you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in this exciting role.

A key component of this post is to ensure all the legal framework and MHA paperwork in completed and correct prior to delivering treatment such as ECT.

Essential

  • NVQ/QCF Level 3/Care certificate or equivalent qualification
  • Good level of general education including literacy and numeracy
  • Willing and able to undertake training including MAPA and Basic life support, food hygiene

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Understanding of the need to remain calm and demonstrate compassion at all times
  • Ability to support personal care whilst maintaining privacy and dignity
  • Ability to motivate patients
  • Understanding of health and safety issues

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working within mental health services/Care setting.
