Job summary

Activity Coordinator, Female Ward at The Caludon Centre, Coventry

The post is responsible for providing and organizing a range of therapeutically engaging activities with individual patients and small groups.

The post holders will deliver activities independently; with other members of the team (nursing, OT, Physio, Speech and Language staff); and maintain resources for other members of the team to engage the patients in meaningful activity, when they are not on the ward.

We welcome applications from individuals who have range of interests in doing, particularly those who have a passion or skill in one or activities such as music, dance, gardening, creative activities and exercise.

Experience of working with or supporting people who have experience of mental ill health, Autism, Learning Disability or trauma is beneficial. But not essential so long as you are kind, enthusiastic and resilient in nature.

The successful candidates will have a genuine skills and interest in doing a variety of different activities, motivating people who are experiencing mental health, and will have lots of initiative, good organisational skills and be able to work alone and as part of a team.

The successful candidates will be welcomed by our supportive team, and have opportunity for training, learning and regular supervision.

Main duties of the job

The Activities Coordinator role is typically provided Monday to Friday between 8:30-16:30.

To plan and provide a diverse program of activities available for all of the patients on the ward, in consultation with patients and staff.

To run group and 1:1 activities with patients. These activities will include physical activity, mental and physical wellbeing activities .

To provide activities on and off the ward, promoting use of outdoor spaces and the local community as applicable.

To manage and maintain a suitable supply of activities stock and resources.

Experience

  • Demonstrates compassion and empathy with vulnerable people
  • Substantial experience of working within Mental Health Services
  • Recent experience working within an inpatient setting
  • Has a relevant activity based skill

  • Able to travel for work purposes and have access to an independent means of transport.
