Staff Nurse Band 5 - RNLD

Children's Respite Service, Mancetter (Full time and Part time hours, Permanent)

Full time and part time hours available, permanent roles

We are looking for an RNLD nurse who is passionate about delivering high standards of care to children and young people aged 5-19 years old, with a Learning Disability and or Autism within respite and to support enhanced packages of care in a variety of settings to prevent and avoid inappropriate hospital admissions.

Gramer House and Holly House provide a total of 7 beds for children with both physical and complex health needs, including unstable epilepsy, management of diabetes and PEG feeding.

We also support children and young people with autism, anxiety and behaviours that are considered challenging.

Main duties of the job

Provide holistic care for Service users (SU) or Children/Young people (CYP) with a Learning Disability and/or complex health needs this may include those with Autism only.

To support enhanced packages of care in a variety of settings to prevent and avoid inappropriate hospital admissions.

To be skilled in a wide range of specific clinical/behavioural Interventions, e.g., enteral feeding, oxygen therapy, oral clearance/suction, Catheterisation, behaviour management and epilepsy management

Understand, support and evidence compliance on all care quality commission outcomes,

Act as named Nurse for allocated SU/CYP. Developing good relationships with the family and the wider MDT.

To assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing and clinical care plans in collaboration with SU/YP, family and the wider MDT

Awareness of National and local policy and the implications for service delivery and own actions.

To administer medication in line with CWPT policy. Understand the pharmacology of medicines, use of as required medicines. Transcribe medication onto administration sheets and assist in writing of specific health protocols for as required drugs.

Carry out all relevant aspects of care mostly without direct supervision adhering to CWPT policy/procedure and NMC guidelines. Respond quickly and appropriately to constantly changing situations amidst frequent

The successful candidate must be well motivated and enthusiastic and enjoy the challenge of working in an environment where no two days are the same. The children in your care must always be your priority.

Good time management is essential, as you will be supporting the children during their respite stays. You will be responsible for a managing a case load of children and be required to write care plans / risk assessments.

You must also demonstrate patience, and display a warm and friendly approach, good interpersonal skills are essential.

We encourage our staff nurses to take an active role in staff development via 1:1 supervisions and the appraisal process. There will be many training opportunities available and staff development is actively encouraged.

The staff at Gramer and Holly house work closely with the social workers, special School nursing teams and psychiatry, alongside families and other multi-professional agencies. This allows us to provide a consistency of care, whilst looking to promote skills development and improve opportunities for the children.
