Job summary

This is a key role within the Podiatry service ensuring high quality clinical pathway delivery and development with the support of the Clinical lead and Operational Lead.

The post holder will be experienced in wound care management who can independently manage a specialised clinical caseload and provide clinical support to others in the team.

The post holder will undertake specific projects and contribute to Clinical Governance and the strategic development of the wound care pathway and Podiatry service.

Main duties of the job

To provide leadership and support to members of the Podiatry team in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, advice and discharge of patients referred to the service.

To demonstrate an advanced level of clinical reasoning and clinical autonomy within the remit of the post, including the ability to carry out procedures, and to discharge or refer onwards when service criteria specifications are not met.

To have a key role in the training and development of staff using evidence-based frameworks to ensure best practice is implemented for patients.

To follow defined Podiatric pathways in providing a comprehensive range of evidence based assessment, diagnosis, treatment, advice and care packages to patients referred to Podiatry.

  • HCPC Registration
  • Member of Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists
  • Certificate in Local Analgesia
  • Evidence of post-graduate education
  • Supervisory or Management Qualification

Knowledge and skills

  • Evidence of good Podiatric clinical skills and clinical reasoning
  • Evidence of supervising staff
  • Evidence of personal development (maintaining a personal diary is desirable)
