Main duties of the job
You
will be expected to work within all
clinical areas within the Emergency department and show a commitment to
developing yourself and others within the team
.
You will be required to
attend and complete mandatory training online and face to face .
In
addition to this the department offers a comprehensive induction programme and
role specific training

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Job responsibilities
Assessment of patients of all ages
attending the Emergency Department, SDEC
Planning and delivery of nursing care that reflects
current patient care needs.
Evaluation of care in collaboration with patient /
carers and multidisciplinary team.
Involved in the care of trauma patients and
resuscitation of critically unwell patients.
Accurate documentation of nursing care delivered.
Be a safe practitioner aware of own limitations and
reporting any areas of concern to a more senior nurse.
Work effectively as part of a team.
Awareness of and co-operating in maintaining Accident
and Emergency health care targets in the best interest of the patient.
Participate in teaching / training of more junior staff.
Follow policy and procedure accurately for Safeguarding
both children and adults
Ongoing development of skills and knowledge to become a
competent Emergency Department nurse.
To use electronic systems e.g. EPR safely and as per
departmental policy
To appropriately escalate when care standard is thought
to be below par
To participate in ED specific training e.g.
decontamination training.
To act within the medicines management trust policy
To become competent in working in
