The position of Nurse Practitioner has become available
within the Clinical decisions Unit for a secondment of 10 months, 24 hours. The secondment will run
from 8th June 2026 to 5th April 2027. A clinical examination qualification and
General Surgical experience is essential for this role The unit runs a 7 day service 0730-2000, including
weekends and all bank holidays. The unit assesses General Surgical emergency patients as well as
those of the Surgical Specialties, such as Breast and ENT. The Clinical Decisions Unit is an emergency Triage
area for those requiring treatment but not always hospital admission.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our service
development. We have a strong nursing team and this role will involve assisting the CDU Manager by
demostrating excellent leadership and innovation skills to improve clinical practice and the
pateint's experience. The Clinical Decisions Unit is a small team of approximately 14 staff members and we all
have a very good sense of teamwork and togetherness. The staff all have a variety of
experience and will always be willing to offer support and assistance where
needed.
Main duties of the job
The candidate will need to posess a physical examination
qualification prior to applying for the role.
The post holder would be required to use clinical knowledge
and experience combined with sound
clinical reasoning to interpret information obtained from
either patient, relative/carers or referring source in order to make clinical decision, provide
differential diagnosis and create records to support during consultation period. Then in collaboration with
senior decision maker agree most appropriate outcome for the patient and expedite. The post
holder will, eventually, be expected to complete the Non-medical prescribing
module.
