Job summary

This vacancy provides an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to work in a busy service/department and be part of the much larger department which is AHP Central Admin.

The succsesful candidate will provide a vital link between patients, admin staff and clinicians to continue to improve the Wheelchair Services department and ensure the service we provide is of the highest of standards.

Main duties of the job

To deal with telephone enquiries, taking and conveying messages appropriately

To sort incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail for posting

Make appointments and give non-clinical advice as directed, taking necessary action for the call to be handled as quickly and efficiently as possible

Support the efficient organisation of home visits, arranging appointments and ensuring clinical notes are ready, to ensure the smooth and effective provision of patient services.

Liaise regularly with secondary care staff, laboratories and GP surgeries to obtain patent test results and where necessary receive and maintain database ensuring reports are correctly assigned to patient notes and chase up any outstanding reports.

Receive and handle information regarding referrals to the service and deal with them within Trust or departmental timescales

Maintain an up to date filing and archive filing system, disposing of archived patient records according to Trust policy

Transmit electronic mail, photocopy documents and circulate information within Trust or departmental timescales

Enter data on local and national databases according to service requirements

Use databases and spreadsheets
