CDDFT Community Respiratory Nursing Service is pleased to advertise a rare, exciting, opportunity, for a Community Respiratory Specialist Nurse Lead on a permanent basis, based at Chester-Le-Street Community Hospital, 18 hours per week.

The successful postholder will deliver expert, complex clinical respiratory patient care, and lead and manage service innovation and delivery.

The successful candidate will utilise their organisation and communication skills to achieve best patient outcomes whilst being well supported by the service Matron and Community Respiratory Specialist Nursing peers.

The hours for this post are offered between 8:30am and 5pm, across 2 or 3 days per week, flexibility can be negotiated in regards to hours worked but must include a Thursday and Friday.

Main duties of the job

  • Complex, specialist assessment, diagnostics, planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical care, utilising advanced clinical skills through completion of the physical assessment course.
  • Be highly knowledgeable in respiratory disease, pathophysiology, function and management.
  • Autonomously manage a caseload of very complex respiratory patients and act as an accountable practitioner.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records as an autonomous practitioner.
  • Provide specialist holistic advice to patients/carers.
  • Manage a team of registered and non-registered staff through possessing advanced leadership and management skills.
  • Confidently lead service development and manage change through leading on research, audit and quality improvement utilising established leadership skills.
  • Be an active key member for the local, regional and wider national teams.
