Job summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Doctor in Corneal Surgery to join our ophthalmology team working Trust Wide. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in diagnosing, treating, and managing corneal diseases and performing advanced corneal surgical procedures. This role requires a compassionate clinician dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care and contributing to the advancement of corneal treatment within our facility.

Main duties of the job

The ideal candidate will hold a full GMC license to practice and have experience working in NHS hospitals as an SPR or Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology, with experience in Corneal Surgery.

Key responsibilities will include participating in:

Diagnose and manage a wide range of corneal conditions, including keratoconus, corneal dystrophies, infections, and trauma.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualised patient care plans.

Provide preoperative and postoperative care, including patient counselling and follow-up evaluations.

Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and documentation.

Participate in clinical research, audits, and quality improvement initiatives related to corneal health and surgery.

Educate and mentor junior doctors, residents, and medical students.

Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements and techniques in corneal surgery and ophthalmology.
