Job summary
An
exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic
qualified nurse to join our team in providing a 7 day per week service within
the Plastic Surgery Dressing Clinic within UHND. You will be responsible for
planning, organisation and delivery of care to both adult and child patients in
daily nurse-led clinics and trauma clinics, hand clinics and Consultant clinics
as well as assisting doctors in the minor ops room . Previous experience in
wound care will be helpful but training opportunities will be provided for you
to gain knowledge and skills in more specialised Plastic Surgery nursing
practrices and techniques.
Main duties of the job
You will support the Clinic Manager during the day-to-day
running of the clinic and be able to take charge of the management of the
department in the absence of a more senior nurse. It is essential that you will
be able to work as part of a team and on your own initiative, with the ability
to effectively communicate at all levels.
You will assess and
manage patients' wounds, make referrals to other members of the
multidisciplinary team where necessary and, as part of the nurse-led review
clinic, you will discharge patients appropriately.
You will complete relevant and accurate documentation and
will communicate any changes in patients' treament plans to relevant team
members and ensure patient safety is maintained at all times.
You will screen relevant patients for MRSA and take wound
swabs, practice venepuncture and cannulation when necessary, administer some
medications, including IV antibiotics, as per Trust guidelines.
