An
exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Nurse to gain experience within
the band 6 role to cover maternity leave on the complex frailty unint on Ward 1
University Hospital of north Durham. We are a 32 bedded frailty unit caring for
frail/elderly patients working closely together as a multi-disciplinary team.
As part of the new dynamic frailty pathway we specialise in planning and
implementing care for our patients.
We work alongside our partner teams in acute
frailty and the wider complex frailty teams to ensure safe and best care is
provided to our patients.
We welcome applications
from enthusiastic experienced registered nurses who have an interest in caring
for frail/elderly patients and development of their leadership. the applicant
must have Nurse incharge experience.
As a Clinical sister on the
unit you will be responsible for co-ordinating nursing care for a group of
patients as well as working alongside medical and therapy staff implementing
patient centered care plans.
We
offer support and mentorship to expand knowledge and skills in our friendly
team as well as opportunities to participate with audit work, Governance,
rostering and innovative ways of working.
Main duties of the job
Clinical
Responsibilities
To assess individual care needs, develop, implement and
evaluate care given to patients in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.
Educational Responsibilities
To promote a learning environment that facilitates the
development of staff enabling staff to develop to their full potential.
To assist the ward manager in ensuring that all staff
attend mandatory training and receive continuing development and appropriate
education; maintaining accurate records of training.
To assist in the facilitation of teaching and clinical
assessment of pre and post registration nurses and health care assistants.
To be involved with the dissemination of information
regarding new or updated clinical practices, guidelines and policies to all
ward nursing staff.
To participate in training needs
analysis for ward.
