We are seeking to appoint Emergency Care
Practitioners witihin the Urgent Care Centre and See & Treat Service at
University Hopital of North Durham. The UTC is an out of hours provision
presently and therefore rotation into the See & Treat service within ED is
required. This provides an opportunity to become expert within both fields,
supported by the UTC staff as well as ED.
We are looking to appoint at band 7 level, however where potential
appointees do not hit the essential criteria an annexe will be applied until

Main duties of the job
To support
in implementing systems and processes that will ensure high quality service in
Urgent Care & See & Treat.
To provide
telephone and face to face consultations including home visits for patients
with unscheduled and emergency care needs over a 24 hour seven day a week
period.
To work
autonomously at a level appropriate to clinical competence and within the scope
of professional practice.
To assess,
diagnose and manage patients from the first point of contact through to
discharge or referral, often analysing highly complex facts and situations.
To
prescribe the required treatment within the Health Professionals scope of
Professional Practice (non-medical extended and supplementary prescribing or
Patient Group Directives).
To ensure
appropriate, timely and seamless referral to other health and social care
agencies through highly developed communication and negotiation strategies.
To support
the Clinical Service Manager in developing and promoting a high quality service based on best practice and
underpinned with a sound theoretical knowledge.
The
post holder will have dexterity and accuracy required i.e.. limb manipulations,
intravenous injection
