We have an exciting and rare opportunity for an experienced Dietitian to join our Home Enteral Feeding team. This role is for a paediatric Home Enteral Feeding Dietitian

The Home Enteral Feeding team are previous winners of the Trust sustainability award for work around reducing use of plastic items. The adult team also hold extended scope for feeding tube related procedures.

Main duties of the job

The paediatric Home Enteral Feeding Dietitian provides dietetic care pre and post feeding tube insertion. The post holder will provide troubleshooting advice. Care is provided to patients via a telephone service, home visiting, , ward visits, clinics and joint MDT appointments. The service is provided via an off FP10 model - this means the Dietitian is responsible for ordering tube feeds directly from the 3rd party company.

The Home Enteral Feeding team enjoy close working relationships with our 3rd party company who provide enteral feeding. For paediatrics, the team work closely with the community paediatricians, children's complex needs nursing team and the wider Home Enteral Feeding team.

The post holder will be based at Bishop Auckland Hospital but will be required to undertake home visits within the allocated geographical area. At present this is likely to include the North of County Durham.

Patients will be seen in a variety of settings including hospital wards, outpatient clinics, telephone clinics and home visits. The department trains dietetic students (A, B and C placement) and the post holder will have an active role in student training planning, co-ordination and assessment

The Nutrition and Dietetic service is structured into teams; secondary care (incorporating nutrition support and critical care), bariatrics, primary care (incorporating care home training), adult & paediatric diabetes, adult Home Enteral Feeding, paediatrics (incorporating Home Enteral Feeding and paediatric weight management). the nutrition and dietetic service comprises of 6 teams, with 49 Dietitians, 1 Specialist Nurse, 4 Dietetic assistants and we are supported by central administration. We are based on 4 sites in the County, at Darlington Memorial Hospital, University Hospital North Durham, Bishop Auckland Hospital and Shotley Bridge Hospital.
