Job summary
The Acute Medical Unit is a 40 bedded ward, receiving
patients directly from A&E or from GPs with acute medical conditions. They are usually with us for a short period
of time whilst their acute condition is being diagnosed, stabilised, monitored
and treated.
We are currently recruiting band 5 registered nurses. For newly qualified nurses we offer a full
preceptorship programme and for experienced nurses we offer a variety of
courses to support your continuous professional development such as Mentorship,
Intermediate and Advanced Life Support training opportunities and clinical
skills.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the assessment of
care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of
care without supervision. They will be
required to actively participate in the teaching and supervision of other
nursing and non nursing staff.
Working 12 hour shifts days and nights ensures continuity of
care and safety of our patients. Working
along side a health care assistant responsible for six patients in your care.
Participating and contributing in patient ward rounds
ensuring you are fully informed of the care needs and plans for individual
patients in your care.
Working along side multidisciplinary teams and
other dynamic memebers of the team

We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
