Job summary

The post holder will be responsible for the co-ordination and management of designated Child Health Information Services Staff within County Durham & Darlington Foundation Trust. These staff provide a comprehensive data collection, collation and reporting system including scheduling of appointments. The service supports NHS England, 0-25 service (School Nurses, Health Visitors, Specialist Health Visitors), GPs and Safeguarding. The post holder will be integral in assisting the Child Health Information Services Manager in managing the service.

Main duties of the job

1.Co-ordination and supervision of all Child Health information services staff ensuring adequate cover is available to meet the needs of the service..

2. Responsible for assisting the CHIS manager with the management of the Child Health Information services staff and non staff budget

3.Ensuring that the service provided by the Child Health Information Service staff is proactive, patient focused and meets the needs of the users of the service, identifying changes required to support the changing needs and demands of the service

4. Support the CHIS Manager with ensuring that the CHIS requirements regarding the Antenatal and Newborn screening and Immunisation programmes and the Childhood Immunisation and Screening programmes are met, preparing systmone reports as required

5. Assist the CHIS Manager with ensuring timely, accurate statistical information is collated and reported as required including Cover data, ANNB Screening data, NCMP data collection and upload and any other statistical information as and when required

6. Ensure guidance is followed regarding retention, destruction and access of child health records. Act as Service Information Asset Administrator

Job responsibilities

9.Identify requirements for the Child Health Information System and ensuring that the system is used to maximum effect.

10.Monitor the accuracy of the data input to the Child Health Information system identifying problems to the Child Health Information Services Manager as they arise.

11.Assist with the recruitment, selection and induction of Child Health Information Services staff.

12. Identifies training needs for all Child Health Information Services staff. Ensure staff are trained in the latest screening and immunisation programme of scheduling. Assist the CHIS Manager with the staff Appraisal process.

13. Deliver appropriate training to Child Health Information Services Staff and ensure that they have the skills to carry out the duties expected of them.

14. Record Child Health Information Services staffs annual leave, absences, and training and arrange monitoring/compliance of flexi time policy.

15. Responsible for monitoring of stock/non-stock orders via the Cardea electronic ordering system.

16. Attend meetings as and when required.

Any other duties appropriate to the Grade, at the request of the Child Health Information Services manager.
