Job summary

Do you want to influence the employment prospects for the population of County Durham and Darlington and engage in real partnership working?

You will be working with multiple stakeholders to assist in leading and developing the Trust's and NHSE's Widening participation strategy by facilitating entry into a wide range of NHS roles. The role will have a focus on widening participation and include reducing health inequalities through employement across County Durham and Darlington, ensuring the inclusion of all system partners incorporating health, social care, the voluntary and community sectors and education.

You will contribute to the Trust's role as an anchor institution and look for ways that it can add social value. The role will have a great deal of autonomy and would suit somebody with experience of managing projects with many stakeholders

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to champion the widening participation agenda and support transformational change. You will motivate colleagues to work together to deliver success and achieve agreed outcomes.

You will develop an approach to working in partnership; including meeting and reporting structures, communications and engagement planning as well as developing other key strategic documents.

Working closely with Durham County Council, Darlington Council and other partners you will deliver the outcomes through planning, initiating, running and evaluating recruitment initiatives and identifying future opportunities and stakeholders

You will coordinate the Trust's Education and Outreach activities through a wide range of participating staff and engage with local education providers to develop employablity schemes that allow particpants to apply for roles within the NHS, particularly for hard to fill roles

You will work to reduce health inequalities across the Trust's Geography foucing on areas of social deprevation.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

You will develop and maintain a comprehensive plan and review it on an ongoing basis, identifying where there is risk that objectives or timescales will be not be met.

You will increase understanding of barriers to widening participation across County Durham and Darlington with respect to accessing NHS and, to some degree, Health and Social Care sector careers and then identify specific activities or programmes that can break down those barriers.

This will require a rigorous communications strategy, reaching all stakeholders and, where appropriate beyond, ensuring projects aims, objectives and benefits are cascaded.

You will manage the T-Level and college placement coordinator, reponsible for ensuring that access to T level placements across the Trust is provided to partner colleges in a safe and fair manner.
