Job description
Job responsibilities
At present, the Dermatology Consultants triage all cases for
the Trust on a weekly rota. A good marker of proficiency is how many patients
are rejected. There is a range of proficiency within the team as would be
expected with a group of clinicians.
The rates of rejection range from only 3.8% up to 46.8% per
week depending on the clinician. The mean rejection rate across the team is
23.1% range 8.1% to 39.6% overall.
With an average of 178 cases per week the number of cases
that would need to be seen face to face could range from 95 to 171 depending on
the person doing the triaging. It would average out at 137 based on a 23.1%
rate.A good marker for tele-dermatology proficiency is the number of cases
rejected per week ie the patient is told on the phone that they do not have
cancer. This is also good clinical care, and allows a lot of patients to be
