Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a
trainee plaster technician 30 hours per week to join an established team
delivering services across three main site, supporting a comprehensive range of
orthopaedic and trauma speciality clinics.
The post holder will be accountable for all aspects of care
requiring plaster casts, splints and braces whilst under the supervision of
qualified staff.
To undertake and participate in statutory training and in
service programme.
To participate in annual personal
review being consistent of service needs.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will work closely with qualified
Plaster Technicians to carry out prescribedtreatments while demonstrating evidence based practice and
complying with the British Orthopaedic Association guidelines.
Trainees will also learn in depth anatomy and physiology to
ensure safe and effective practice.
Trainees will be accountable for providing casting and
splinting support within clinics as requested,
while also giving support and advice to the patient and
carers to enable optimum treatment and enableself care.
Trainees will also contribute to the management of wound
care inline with Trust policies and procedures.

We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
