Main duties of the job

As a Project Manager within the Capital Team, you will:

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to plan, coordinate, and deliver short, medium, and long-term projects.

Oversee a diverse project portfolio, ranging from estate development to service improvement and transformation.

Prepare critical project documentation, such as business cases, feasibility studues operational policies, and development plans.

Manage project risks, budgets, and stakeholder expectations to ensure timely, high-quality outcomes to agreed budgets.

Act as a key liaison with clinical teams to integrate innovative operational practices into healthcare environments.

Provide regular updates and reports to governance committees and project boards.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

  • Experience of managing construction and engineering projects
  • Experience of successfully working to deadlines and completing tasks to time, quality and cost.
  • Be able to demonstrate wide and varied experience of several projects, ideally including health specific projects, through all RIBA stages from inception to design through to delivery of the completed project including monitoring on site standards and smooth handover including O&Ms/H&S file and the undertaking of post project reviews and lessons learned reviews.
  • Must demonstrate experience of successfully liaising with independent consultants, contractors, professional advisers, hospital staff user groups and other project stakeholders etc.

Desirable

  • NHS experience in all technical aspects of HTM, HBN and NHS Policy Documents

  • Educated to degree level or significant work related experience
  • Qualified Prince 2 practitioner
  • Evidence of continuous professional development

  • Membership of a recognised professional institute or equivalent
