The service operates on two main sites University Hospital of North Durham and
Darlington Memorial Hospital with a Radiology Department on both that provides
MRI, CT, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy, Nuclear medicine and Plain film services.
Further facilities are available at Bishop Auckland Hospital including CT and
MRI. The Trust has recently installed 3 new MRI scanners and replaces its
equipment base under a managed service contract.

Main duties of the job
The
candidate will work with our existing team of radiologists in both general
radiology and areas of sub specialist interest. The department supports the
local training scheme for radiologists with opportunities for supervision and
teaching. It is expected that whilst the successful candidate will spend most
of their programmed activities at one site however the role may involve
programmed activities at other hospitals within the Trust in line with clinical
requirements. These posts are subject to change in relation to site working and
may be impacted upon by future service transformation. The post includes a
commitment to being on-call, the
department currently runs a 1 in 12 on call week that involves being 2nd on call
from home at all times ie 5pm to 9am Monday to Friday and all weekend, an
outsourcing company provides 1st on-call reporting during all on call periods
and it is unusual to be called.
