Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an
enthusiastic Registered Nurse to work as a Band 5 Staff Nurse within a well
established Outpatient Service, based at Bishop Auckland Hospital. This is a general Outpatient Department,
serving a variety of medical, surgical, orthopaedic and specialist outpatient
clinics. You will have exellent
communication skills and an ability to work well as part of a team or
independently where required. As the
Registered Nurse on duty you will be expected to manage the day to day running
of the department in the absence of the departmental sisters, and supervise
junior staff and students when required.
The role would suit a Registered Nurse with post-registration experience
which can be utilised within the clinic setting. A working knowledge of the NHS would be
useful.
Main duties of the job
As
a band 5 staff Nurse within the Outpatients team you will work alongside a well
established team of Registered Nurses and support staff to facilitate the
smooth running of clinics with in the appointed times. You will be involved in managing clinics
You will provide advice and
support to patients attending clinics to enhance and enable patients to reach
optimum health through knowledge, experience and health promotion.
You will act as a mentor to
supervise students, newly appointed staff and support staff. To utilise knowledge and have the skills to
deliver the best possible evidence based training.
Able to work well under
pressure and the confidence to challenge unwanted behaviours. To be able to respond accordingly to
patients, relatives or carers who maybe distressed following a clinic
consultation.
Possess the skills needed
e.g. Team Leader Skills to deputise and supervise the nursing team in the
absence of the department manager, referring to the to the department manager
when necessary.
You will have a working knowledge
of Long Term Health Conditions and of the Trusts Health and safety Policies.
