Job summary
We
are currently seeking a Band 6 Epilepsy specialist nurse to Join our team of epilepsy nurses based at Chester
Le Street Hospital . The successful applicant will work across the North Durham
Area and surrounding villages offering speicalist epilepsy advice to patients
within their own homes, in various clinics or via the telephone. The service is
delivered over five days Monday to Friday with core hours of 9am to 5pm however
some flexibilty may be required occasionally. The sucessful applicant will be
required to hold a first level nursing registration with the NMC, additional
training specific to the role can be provided.
Main duties of the job
The
successful applicant will work within the Epilepsy Specialist nursing team to provide
both planned and reactive care to patients with an Epilepsy diagnosis. This will involve running face to face and
telephone clinics in community settings.
The successful applicant will have experience of managing a caseload of
patients who live with epilepsy and whose care can be complex with additional
lifestyle issues and comorbidities.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
