Job summary
To
develop and provide a comprehensive Oncoplastic Breast Surgical Service to the
patients of County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust.
Main duties of the job
The post advertised is for a new substantive oncoplastic
breast post. The post will not attract general surgery on call duties. Breast oncoplastic (ISCP, CCT) training is
essential, fellowship experience is optional.
Taking this into account it is proposed that a successful
candidate will spend most of their programmed activities working Trust wide, at
either Darlington Memorial Hospital or University Hospital of North Durham. It
is expected that the role would involve programmed activities at other
hospitals within the Trust such as Bishop Auckland Hospital (pending Elective
hub approval and joint working with plastic surgery for appropriate cases such
as free flap reconstruction).
Four surgeons are supported in providing a
breast service to a population of approximately 650,000 by the expected MDT
members including three plastic surgeons.
The trust is currently rated Good by the Care Quality Commission.
