Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic registered nurse with an interest in Ophthalmology to join our teams at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation trust.

We are responsible for providing a specialist ophthalmic service for the population of County Durham and Darlington across two sites, which encompasses Darlington Memorial Hospital and Bishop Aukland General.

The department will offer the successful candidate an opportunity to develop in your role as an ophthalmic nurse within a dynamic team. The successful candidate must possess excellent communication skills, a high sense of professionalism and a strong belief in the value of team work. You will help formulate and carry out effective care for our patients and ensure it is delivered to the highest possible level.

You will have the opportunity to gain experience in all areas of Ophthalmology including scrubbing in eye theatre and clinic work

Main duties of the job

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

We are currently responsible for provding specialist services on two sites Darlington Memorial and Bishop Aukland Hospital and a possibility that we will return UHND in the future
